Meitei Pangal community honors Sqd Ldr Rizwan Malik

Imphal, September 07 2025: In a celebration of courage and dedication, a special function was held today at Keikhu, Imphal East to felicitate Squadron Leader Rizwan Malik, a proud son of the Meitei Pangal community.

As per a release issued by All Manipur Muslim (Meitei Pangal) Welfare Association (AMPWA), the event, themed "Salute to Bravery, a Tribute to Honour", recognised Malik on being conferred the Vir Chakra, India's third-highest wartime gallantry award.

The ceremony was graced by dignitaries, including Maulana Ziauddin, Pesh Imam, Sadar Bazar Jame Masjid, Imphal; A R Khan, president AMPWA; M A Sattar, retired IAS officer; Akhtar Hussain, vice president AMPWA; Md Hafizuddin Khan, secretary, AMPWA; and Maulana Khurshid Ahmed.

As a mark of honour, Squadron Leader Malik was presented with several tokens of appreciation, including a copy of the Holy Quran, a traditional scarf, and a memento.

Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh initiated the event with a welcoming address, highlighting the historical contributions of the Meitei Pangal community to the defense of Manipur since the 17th century.

Delivering the keynote address, Abdus Salam, secretary general of AMPWA, expressed the community's profound joy and gratitude.

He emphasized how Malik's achievement serves as an inspiration for youth, encouraging them to pursue their goals with hard work and unwavering commitment.

The pride was echoed by AR Khan, who lauded Malik's achievement as a testament to the community's legacy of bravery and its contributions to the nation's defense.

The event concluded with a prayer led by Maulana Ziauddin.
