DSWO Kakching invites applications for Dr Ambedkar Medical Aid scheme

Kakching, August 07 2026:
The District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO), Kakching, has informed the public that the Dr Ambedkar Foundation (DAF), an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, is implementing the Dr Ambedkar Medical Aid Scheme (Revised-2026) to provide financial assistance for the treatment of serious life-threatening diseases.
According to a notice issued by the DSWO Kakching, the scheme is meant for eligible patients belonging to the SCs and ST communities whose annual family income is below Rs 5 lakh.
Under the scheme, financial assistance of up to Rs 1.50 lakh is available for heart and spinal surgeries, Rs 3.50 lakh for kidney surgery/dialysis and kidney or organ transplants, Rs 2.50 lakh for cancer treatment, including surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, Rs 2 lakh for brain surgery, and up to Rs 2 lakh for other lifethreatening diseases.
Eligible applicants may submit their applications by post using the prescribed application form.
Applications may also be submitted in the prescribed format drafted on plain paper as per the prescribed proforma.
The DSWO stated that application guidelines, prescribed forms and other details are available on the official website of the Dr Ambedkar Foundation: dosje.gov.in.
Eligible beneficiaries may also approach the District Social Welfare Office, Kakching, for guidance and assistance whenever required.
