World Cerebral Palsy Day observed

Joining the rest of the world, Spastic Society of Manipur today observed World Cerebral Palsy Day 2025 at its premises in Tapokpi Bazar, Langthabal Kunja.
World Cerebral Palsy Day is celebrated every year on October 6 to raise awareness about Cerebral Palsy (CP) and advocate for the rights of individuals with CP .
This year's theme "Unique and United", emphasizes the individuality of people with CP while celebrating the strength of the global community supporting them.
The celebration held at Tapokpi Bazar was graced by dignitaries, including Waikhom Birahari Singh, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Manipur; Dr Thangjam Dhabali Singh, CMD, Babina Groups; Dr Mayengbam Veto Singh, Director, YAS, Manipur; Dr Th Digel Singh, president, Rotary Club of Imphal; and Laishram Tokendra Ricky, secretary, Spastic Society of Manipur.
The event began with the felicitation of winners of Regional Abilympics namely Yumnam Ranesh Singh and Abujam Arunkumar Meitei.
Yumnam Ranesh represented Spastic Society of Manipur at the Regional Abilympics Championship recently held at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalashetra, Guwahati.
He won the gold medal in the Massage Competition.
Abujam Arunkumar also represented Spastic Society of Manipur at the Regional Abilympics Championship and won the bronze medal in the Basket Making Competition.
Veihriilou Lanah, winner of Mister Deaf India 2025 was also felicitated.
As part of the event, the Manipur Team comprising 10 players with Cerebral Palsy were flagged off for the National CP Football Championship beginning tomorrow at Panjim, Goa as part of the International Purple Festival, Goa 2025 .
The players are - Baroon Yumnam, Sanasam Mahesh Singh, Laiphrakpam Nikhil Singh, Nongthombam Naresh Singh, Waikhom Clinton, Kiran Chingngangbam, Kh Ronaldo, Moirangthem Jiten, RK Rupesh Singh and L Korounganba.
To support and encourage the players, Rotary Club of Imphal also provided football kits and financial assistance to the team.
The Manipur CP Football Team expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the philanthropists who had shown solidarity and contributed generously for the team's participation in the 3rd National CP Football Championship, Goa.
Notably, Spastic Society of Manipur is a member organisation of Cerebral Palsy Sports Federation of India (CPSFI) .
CPSFI is the National Governing Body dedicated to promoting, developing and regulating sports for persons with CP in India.
Affiliated with the International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football (IFCPF) and recognised by the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), CPSFI works towards creating equal opportunities for athletes with CP and related Neurological conditions.
