Imphal, February 05 2026:
Residents of Keirao Bitra Sub-Division in Imphal East District are enduring major hardships due to the Sub-Deputy Collector (SDC) office of Tulihal Yairipok operating from the Porompat DC complex for over 10 years.
The local populace has warned of protests if the office is not moved to its designated location soon.
The SDC office located in Tulihal Yairipok - neglected for over 10 years, now resembles a cowshed and is barely recognizable as an office building.
The SDC office was moved to the Imphal East DC office complex in Porompat following an order issued by the then Deputy Commissioner (DC) in 2009 .

According to Konthoujam Nilakamal, secretary of the SDC Office Restoration Committee, while other SDC offices in the district (Heingang, Sawombung, Sagolmang, Bashikhong) have SDCs working from their own sites, the Tulihal Yairipok office has remained at the Porompat complex since 2009 .
This has forced residents, particularly those from the Andro Assembly Constituency, to travel over 20 kilometers to obtain necessary documents such as land tax receipts, residential certificates, income certificates, and birth certificates.
The round trip from Yairipok to Porompat costs about Rs 240 in transport alone, plus a full day's lost time.
Residents from more interior areas like Nongpok Keithelmanbi face even steeper expenses.
Despite repeated pleas to the Chief Secretary and State Government, the Land Revenue Secretary only asked the committee to wait until December 2025- no action followed.
With a new Government in place, locals are renewing their call for swift relocation.
Md Giyajuddin, a local resident, echoed the frustration: "We have suffered since 2009.If the office is not moved back immediately, we'll launch protests" .
