CRPF conducts rescue operation

In an emphatic display of professionalism, CRPF has responded immediately to the distress call from the flood affected people and successfully carried out a rescue operation at Thambalkhong, Imphal East on July 3 .
According to a release issued by CRPF, the heavy downpour of rainfall in Manipur in the last few days has resulted in the breach of some major rivers in Imphal inundating many places in the capital valley areas.
Considering the threat pose by the increasing water level to human lives, the quick action teams of the Sector and 69 Battalion CRPF, Mantripukhri, under the command of the Commandant, 69 Bn CRPF and under the aegis of the IG, Manipur and Nagaland Sector CRPF, launched an operation to rescue the people from flood affected areas.
The teams rescued several people including senior citizens, women and children who were stranded and haplessly waiting for help and evacuated them to a safe zone.
Besides saving lives, the teams of CRPF also helped the affected people in carrying out and saving some of their properties.
On arrival of the State authority led by Sh Premananda, SDC, Porompat, the troops also assisted them in distributing and delivering drinking water to those stranded.
The rescue operation displayed the dedication of the CRPF soldiers for the cause of saving life and helping the people besides its role of maintaining law & order.
