N Bandana lauds women's role in economy at Imphal East BRC Meet

Imphal, June 04 2026:
Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) State Mission Director N Bandana praised the significant role of women in improving the State's economy during a general body meeting of the Block Resource Centre (BRC), SVEP, Imphal East, for Keirao and Kshetrigao block.
The meeting, held today at Uchekon Nongpok Mamang Leikai Community Hall, Kongba Khunou, was organised under MSRLM of the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
BRC President Naorem Anjanu Devi presided over the programme.
Officials from Weavers Service Centre, Handloom & Textiles, DIC Porompat, Manipur Rural Bank, and several MSRLM state and district officers, including SMMs Gurumayum Kabita, Khamba Ronglo, Gurumayum Binison, DMM Naoshram Basanta, and Block In-charge Keisham Sujata, attended.
Bandana said women are taking major responsibilities in various sectors and their economic role must be further strengthened.
She noted MSRLM is working to boost women's livelihoods and stressed that coordinated support from all departments is essential for larger entrepreneurship initiatives.
"Let us work together under one vision for a developed Manipur", she added.
Anjanu Devi said BRC began as a pilot project in 2019 under the Village Entrepreneurship Programme.
So far, 1,940 entrepreneurs have been assisted.
She added that Kangleipak, Thongju, Keirao, and Dhrubatara Cluster Level Federations under the block are playing key roles in improving livelihoods.
