Imphal, March 04 2025:
The statement made by Kuki CSOs challenging the Union Home Minister's directive to clear the highways is a direct affront to the Indian Government.
It is time to initiate legal action against such organisations, said Dr Moirangthem Tombi, president, Shiv Sena Manipur Pradesh.
He made the statement while speaking to media persons during a press meet at Shiv Sena Manipur Pradesh office at Babupara today.
As National Highways are the lifeline of a State, many small businesses have been hit-hard due to the inability to travel along these routes for their businesses, said Dr M Tombi.
In consideration of the public's plight, the Centre directed top civil administrators to ensure free movement of all people on National Highways and other roads from March 8.The response of Kuki CSOs, including ITLF and CoTU, stating no free movement will be permitted until their demand for separate administration is achieved cannot be taken lightly.
It is time to take legal action against such organisations who are blatantly challenging the Union Home Minister's instruction, he asserted.
Stating that Manipur Governor has extended the deadline to surrender illegal weapons till March 6, he called upon the authorities to ensure that Kuki miscreants also surrender their sophisticated weapons by the given deadline.
Additionally, he urged the Central Government to investigate where they got the weapons from.
The Shiv Sena Manipur Pradesh president also called for withdrawal of SoO pact with Kuki groups and implementation of NRC in the State.
