Mass cleanliness drives mark National Cleanliness Day observance

National Cleanliness Day/Swachh Bharat Niwas was observed today across various districts with active participation from various departments and government offices as part of the nationwide cleanliness initiative.
The day is observed to mark the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and conclusion of the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign with the aim to promote hygiene, sanitation and collective responsibility.
Bishnupur
The District Administration Bishnupur, under the guidance of Additional Deputy Commissioner Toijam Opendro observed National Cleanliness Day with active participation at the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur today.
As part of the observation, a district-wide cleanliness drive and social service activities were conducted across various offices and institutions.
District Level Officers (DLOs) and staff from all line departments took part in cleaning their respective office premises and the surrounding areas of the Mini Secretariat complex.
The initiative aimed to reinforce the importance of cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental consciousness among government functionaries and the general public.
In addition, the Sub-Divisional Office of Moirang under SDO Chirom Somerendro also carried out cleanliness drives within their campuses.
Chandel
The cleanliness drive was conducted under the supervision of Mamoni Doley Deputy Commissioner, Chandel, in accordance with the District Administration's cleanliness programme.
The drive covered various locations, including the Mini Secretariat (Front and Back Portions), Multipurpose Hall Building Complex, Mahamani Junction to DC Office Gate, Japhou Bazaar, NITI Aayog Building complex, District Hospital, Children Park near Assam Rifles, SDO Chandel Office and SDO Chakpikarong office.
ADC, officials and personnel from various departments participated in the cleanliness activities.
The SDO/BDO Chandel and SDO/BDO Chakpikarong also conducted cleanliness activities in their respective jurisdictions.
Schools, colleges, banks and other institutions across the district also observed the cleanliness drive on the occasion.
Churachandpur
The District Administration, Churachandpur today organized a mass cleanliness drive across the district.
Today's drive was organised through the District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM) in collaboration with line departments, philanthropic organisations and Civil Society Organisations with participation of village authorities and villagers.
In the programme held at DC, Office, Mini-Secretariat Complex, Tuibong, staff of the DC Office, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), district Treasury office and line departments participated.
As part of the programme, a tree sapling plantation was also taken up at MiniSecretariat Complex, Tuibong.
Similar cleanliness drive was also carried out at the District Hospital, Churachandpur in collaboration with philanthropic organization Young Paite Association (YPA) along with hospital staff under Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 with the message "Clean Spaces, Healthy People, Stronger Communities, Brighter Tomorrow".
Mass cleanliness drives were also organised across all Sub-Divisional/Block level and villages level of the district as part of the Abhiyan under the supervision of concerned SDOs/BDOs and village authorities.
Many villages actively participated in the drives with great enthusiasm, cleaning garbage, public places and surroundings of their respective villages to promote cleanliness, hygiene and community well-being.
Jiribam
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Apunba Youth Club, Binnakandi Part 1 Cachar conducted a cleanliness drive today.
Members of the club, residents and students of the region took part in today's drive.
Kakching
The District Administration Kakching joined the nationwide observance of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 with a cleanliness drive at the DC Office Complex, Kakching.
The event was organised by the District Administration Kakching under the aegis of WDC-PMKY 2.0, Kakching district.
The cleanliness drive was conducted at the DC Office complex participated by Kakching Municipal Council, DLOs and staff of various departments in the district.
Also, as part of observance of National Cleanliness Day, mass cleanliness drive was conducted at various Government offices.
The observance was also held at various educational institutions across the district under the supervision of the Zonal Education Office (ZEO), Kakching.
Kamjong
As a part of the observation of National Cleanliness Day, mass cleanliness and tree plantation drives were held across Kamjong district today with active participation from different departments, schools, Self Help Groups and Village Level Federations (VLF).
The programmes were also undertaken as part of Seva Mera Yogdan of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026.At the camp office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kamjong at 2nd MR complex, Additional Deputy Commissioner H L Jain led the other officials in cleaning the office campus and rooms.
While, Self Help Groups and VLFs operating under the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission also conducted cleanliness drives at different villages of Kamjong District.
Under the supervision of Zonal Education Office, Kamjong, cleanliness and tree plantation drives were organised at different educational institutions.
Social work and cleanliness drive was also undertaken at various offices and health centres.
Meanwhile, social service and cleanliness drive was also conducted by Kasom Khullen LAMPS Ltd at Kasom Khullen, Kamjong District.
Kangpokpi
Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen led a cleanliness drive at Nute Kailhang, popularly known as Mother's Market and urged citizens to make cleanliness a collective responsibility for a healthier and more dignified Kangpokpi.
Kipgen participated in the 'Seva Mera Yogdan' observance under the BJP's Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, 2026, organised by the BJP Kangpokpi Mandal, Sadar Hills, at Nute Kailhang.
The Deputy CM joined party leaders, workers, local representatives and women vendors in physically cleaning the market premises.
During her visit, Kipgen inspected both the exterior and interior of Nute Kailhang and took stock of the overall condition of the market, including the grievances and concerns of vendors.
She also inspected the public toilet located near the market.
The Deputy Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction over the condition and maintenance of both the market and the public toilet and directed the concerned authorities to immediately streamline their management and ensure proper upkeep.
She instructed the authorities to complete renovation and improvement works at Nute Kailhang and the public toilet by October 13 and assured that adequate dustbins would be provided to facilitate proper disposal of waste and help maintain cleanliness at the market.
The CEO and local bodies were further instructed to organise a massive cleanliness-awareness programme among vendors and other stakeholders at the market.
She also urged residents, traders, vendors, women's organisations, local bodies and young people to work together to keep Kangpokpi clean, neat and tidy.
Senapati
As part of the month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, the Senapati District Administration today organised a series of cleanliness and plantation activities across the district under the theme "Seva Mera Yogdan - My Contribution".
The programmes witnessed active participation from various government departments, local bodies, educational institutions, youth organisations, Village Authorities and civil society organisations.
The cleanliness drive saw enthusiastic participation from various government departments in cleaning their respective offices and surrounding areas at the Mini Secretariat Complex, Senapati, as well as different locations in Senapati town.
In Senapati town, the Karong Senapati Town Committee, in collaboration with NSS volunteers, organised a cleanliness drive with the participation of students from St Xavier College and Mt Everest College.
The programme also received support from the Royal Brothers Motorcycle Club, which donated garbage collectors to the Town Committee to support sanitation and cleanliness activities.
Meanwhile, plantation drives led by the Divisional Forest Officer, Senapati, and forest department staff were carried out at several locations, including along the Maram-Peren Road (NH-129A) and at the Residential School, Taphou Naga, among other identified locations.
The plantation activities aimed to promote environmental conservation and encourage community participation in creating a greener district.
At the sub-divisional level, the Sub-Divisional Officers coordinated cleanliness drives in villages under their respective jurisdictions in collaboration with the village authorities and youth organisations.
Candle lighting programmes were also organised as part of the observance.
Similar cleanliness and plantation-related activities were conducted in schools and colleges across the district within their respective campuses and premises under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, Autonomous District Council (ADC), Senapati, and the Zonal Education Officer.
