Taking strong exception to the arrest of five
activists of the Kangleipak Students' Association for pulling up
two non-local traders who allegedly adulterated common salt,
Meira Paibis of Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai and Amudon
Akham Leikai today locked the office complex of SAI, Takyel.
A press release issued by NEINASANG, Tera Loukrakpam
Leikai said that the womenfolk who locked the office complex
were demanding immediate release of all the arrested KSA
activists.
Meanwhile, demanding immediate release of the five
activists of Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA), another
sit-in-protest was staged today at Uchekon Yuvraj Palli.
The protest demonstration was jointly organised by the
Uchekon Yuvraj Palli Meira Paibi Association, Linthoingambi
Women's Development Organisation, Uchekon Takhok Mapal
and the Uchekon Laikon Women Development Association.
The protesters put up placards which read as "Don't con-
done people who adulterate edible items", "Punish all culprits",
"Release all arrested KSA volunteers" etc.
Notably, five KSA volunteers including its general secre-
tary Sukham Bidyananda were arrested by police on May 27
after they picked up two non-local people for adulterating
common salt.
Since then, they have been lodged in judicial
custody.
