KEDO, SANLUP celebrate Foundation Day

The Kanglei Economic Development Organisation (KEDO) celebrated its 19th Foundation Day yesterday at Leimarel Sidabi Ima Keithel, Imphal.
The programme opened with the felicitation of writer Ranjit Ningthouja and women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel, followed by the release of the 8th edition of KEDO's annual souvenir.
The event was attended by Karam Bono, Additional Secretary (Education-S); Soibam Maniton, president of KEDO; Thangjam Joykumar, managing director of Likla; and Prof Chinglen Maisnam, Head, Department of South East Asian Studies, Manipur University as presidium members.
Delivering the keynote address, Soibam Maniton reiterated the KEDO's motto, "Work for Identity" .
He said KEDO was set up to instill a strong work culture among the youth and address unemployment by encouraging local indigenous labor over dependency.
Karam Bono praised KEDO volunteers for maintaining Khwairamband Keithel during lockdowns, bandhs and the ongoing crisis.
He said their discipline makes KEDO a model for social development.
Speakers emphasized the historical and economic significance of Khwairamband Keithel, describing it as a pillar of Manipuri identity and economic resilience.
The programme ended with an appeal to youth to take up dignified labour for a self-reliant Manipur.
Separately, the Singjamei Apunba Nupi Lup (SANLUP) celebrated its 12th Foundation Day today at the Maibam Chaothoi Community Hall in Singjamei Thongam Leikai.
The celebration was graced by dignitaries, including NEWAGE Club vice president L Meghachandra, SANLUP president Sapam Ibeni, and advisors Ksh Ibemu and G Sadananda Sharma.
