Indian Army distributes sewing machines

In a significant initiative to wards fostering self-reliance and economic empowerment, the Indian Army distributed six sewing machines at Kanto Sabal village, Imphal West district on March 1, 2025 .
According to a release issued by PIB (Defence Wing), the initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by the Army to support the local communities by enhancing livelihood opportunities and promoting skill development.
Recognizing the potential of tailoring as a sustainable source of income and livelihood, the sewing machines were distributed to empower women by equipping them with the essential tool for self-employment.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the women of Khurkhul area who expressed profound gratitude towards the Indian Army for the noble gesture which will help them achieve financial independence and contribute to their families' well-being.
The endeavour by the Indian Army underscored its unwavering commitment towards holistic community development, fostering self-sufficiency and strengthening its bond with the local community.
