Teachers' sciences congress begins

Imphal, February 02 2016:
A three-day State level teachers' science con-
gress organised by Manipur Science and Technology Council with
the support of NCTC, DST, Government of India was set into
motion at Manipur Science Centre, Takyel, today.
Attending as the chief guest, former Vice Chancellor of
Manipur University, Professor C Amuba Singh, in his ad-
dress, said teachers, if they fully understand their role in the
development of students, can actively engage the students in
the learning process.
The former VC urged the use of
innovative techniques in teaching and assessment of student's
performance.
He further stressed the need for introduction of
new education system in the State.

Praveen said there is want of science teachers in the hill
districts of the State.
He observed that many schools in the
valley area are non-functional due to poor attendance of
teachers.
He further appealed to the teachers to be more
committed to their profession.
