Meeting discusses farmers' grievances

With the participation of United Committee Manipur (UCM) Bishnupur District members, the Moirang Kendra Loumee Shinme Lup and Nupi Lup organised a meeting at Moirang Turenban Leikai Mandop with the agenda of saving farmlands in view of the constraints on agricultural activities ,in the foothill regions of Bishnupur district for many years.
The meeting was attended by Moirang Kendra Loumee Lup vice-president O Ingotomba, advisor L Shyamkumar, UCM Bishnupur District secretary N Iboton, UCM Moirang Unit vice president Kh Nipamacha; Womens' Wing secretary S Thoinu Devi, UCM Kumbi Unit secretary Sharda Devi and UCM Wangoo Unit president Amom Harimohon Singh among others.
After thorough deliberations, the gathering passed several resolutions, including, i) mounting pressure on the concerned authority to disburse crop compensation (for the year 2024) by November 15, 2025 to farmers of the district who have been approved by DC Bishnupur, ii) appeal the Government to continue the ongoing renovation of the dams and other agricultural infrastructure damaged during the conflict under the leadership of MI Department EE, iii) direct efforts to ensure that farmers whose compensation applications (2024) were rejected are approved by completing their necessary online submissions, iv) to speed up the compensation process of over 5000 farmers of Bishnupur district who suffered damages to their farmlands in consultation with COCOMI Farmers Wing and v) urge the Government to initiate the compensation process for this year and mount pressure to make sure that the unpaid compensation for 2023 are disbursed.
