RIMS observes National Voluntary Blood Donation Day

The Department of Transfusion Medicine, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, observed the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 2024 under the theme "Donate Blood, Donate Life".
This year marked a significant milestone, as the event celebrated 20 years of giving with the message "Thank You, Blood Donors" .
The celebration was held in front of the General OPD Block, RIMS Hospital, Imphal, and was attended by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, Imphal and Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent.
Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma highlighted the critical role of voluntary blood donation in saving lives, stating, "Blood is essential in saving lives, particularly in cases of emergency surgeries, trauma care and for patients suffering from chronic illnesses".
Blood donation is a simple act of kindness that can make a world of difference-each donation has the potential to save up to three lives, he said.
The event saw enthusiastic participation of many donors, who were felicitated for their noble contribution.
In conjunction with the blood donation event, the closing ceremony of Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 was also held at the same venue.
The event recognized the significant contributions of safai karamcharis working at RIMS under CRED and MSS, Imphal.
The dedicated workers were awarded for their invaluable service to the institute.
Additionally, certificates and cash prizes were distributed to the winners of a State-level painting competition held as part of the.
Swachhata Hi Seva initiative.
Doctors, nurses and staff of the institute and representatives of CRED and MSS, Imphal attended the event.
