Imphal, November 30 2024: The Meetei (Meitei) Tribe Union (MMTU) in association with Platform fqr Protection of Indigenous People (PPIP) organised a one day convention on "Protection of Indigenous People of Manipur" at Hotel Classic, Imphal today.

The convention, organised under the aegis of Adivasi Samanvay Manch of India, was attended by Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata and former RIMS Medical Superintendent Dr W Mohen.

Adivasi Samanvay Manch National president Dr Sunil Prahar presided over the convention.

Retired Professor W Nabakumar.

RIMS Professor RK Narendra and others spoke as resources persons.

Leaders of indigenous communities of Tripura, Meghalaya and other NE States including Karbi region attended the convention.

The convention brought together representatives of various indigenous communities and provided a platform for them to discuss the issues facing the indigenous people including the Meiteis/Meeteis, said MMTU secretary Mutum Churamani.
