Students decry shortage of teachers

Imphal, July 29 2024: Aggrieved with the shortage of teachers at Imphal College, students of the college have warned of launching an intense stir if the issue of shortage of teachers and lack of infrastructure is not addressed at the earliest.

Addressing the media at Imphal College today, a student Pukhrambam Ranajit said that the Director of Education (U) had previously ordered the assignment of two teachers to the college, but these teachers have not yet assumed their roles.

"Alarmingly, the order was subsequently canceled without any explanation", he added.

He asserted that in this regard, students of the college had submitted memorandums to the Education Commissioner, Education Director, Joint Secretary and the Education Minister on March 21, 2024."Even after four months, we have not received any clarification from the relevant authorities", said Ranajit while adding that the prolonged silence and negligence have created more confusion and apprehension among the students.

Stating that the shortage of teachers has gravely impacted the academic activities at the College, Ranajit urged the relevant authorities to take immediate action to address the issues for the welfare of students.
