Bishnupur, May 29 2024:
Relief camps have been set up at Naranseina Community Hall and Moirang High School in Moirang AC for families affected by the flooding caused by Cyclone Remal.
More than 200 individuals belonging to 42 families are currently seeking shelter at Naranseina Community Hall, while more than 60 people (16 families) from Moirang Municipal Council Ward No 1 are staying at Moirang High School.
In addition, two families from Moirang Khoiru Leikai are seeking sanctuary at MLYDA Khoiru Office.
Due to some respite from the rain today, water levels went down at many places in Bishnupur district.
However, Chengei Leikai, Kokilbon Leikai and fish farms in Moirang AC are still inundated.
The Government has opened five gates of Ithai Barrage to regulate the flood water.
In addition, five shutters of Uyumhoubi Mini Dam have also been lowered as rising water breached the banks of the dam.
Meanwhile, Moirang AC MLA Th Shanti distributed relief items sponsored by District Administration Bishnupur to the affected families staying at flood relief camps.
