International seminar on Innovation and Transformation in Education held at DBS Maram

Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram in collaboration with the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, organized an International Seminar on "Innovation and Transformation in Education" today.
The seminar provided a platform for educators and students to explore innovative pedagogical methods, whole-person education, and the evolving role of teachers as facilitators in modem education.
The event featured four distinguished speakers: Dr Pareena G Lawrence (President, United Board, New York), Dr Jakarin Srimoon (Program Director, Leadership Development, Hong Kong), Dr Maher Spurgeon (Consultant, Director for South Asia, Chennai), and Dr Anita Christine Tiphagne (Consultant, Assistant Director of Administration and Partnerships, Chennai).
The seminar commenced with an interactive session led by Dr Pareena G Lawrence, where over 200 students from various disciplines engaged in discussions on curriculum relevance, job opportunities, and the responsible use of AI and social media platforms.
Dr Lawrence provided valuable insights on equipping students with essential skills for the evolving job market.
The United Board members were highly impressed by the students' curiosity and critical thinking, commending their participation.
Dr Maher Spurgeon emphasized intellectual, moral, emotional, and spiritual growth, urging educators to nurture students' potential rather than impose rigid structures.
Dr Pareena later conducted a session on "Breaking the Mould: Innovative Pedagogy for Transformative Education", discussing engaged learning techniques such as case studies, project-based learning, service learning, and Al-driven simulations.
Dr Anita Christine Tiphagne, in her session "Can We Step Back from Teaching and Become Facilitators?" encouraged teachers to transition towards student-led learning environments, promoting inquiry-based learning and critical thinking.
The seminar concluded with Dr Jakarin Srimoon, who highlighted leadership development in education, stressing the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, and innovative teaching approaches.
The college management expressed gratitude to the United Board speakers and participants for making the event a success.
