Imphal, November 28 2025:
Development for Hills has sought the intervention of Manipur Chief Secretary to address the pending processes under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) from 2022 to 2025 .
In a letter to the Chief Secretary, Development for Hills has pointed out the delay in final payment to beneficiaries for the year 2022 -2023 under PMMSY facilitated by the Fishery Department.
It added that the poor farmers have not received the payment even after completing different works under the scheme.
Despite the delay in payment, new forms for the year 2023-2024 under PMMSY were issued surprisingly.
In the midst of pending final payment for 2022-23 and beneficiary selection process for 2023-2024, new forms for 2024-2025 were issued again, it added.
The letter pointed out that fish rearing and fishery related activities compose a large chunk of the occupation taken up by farmers of the hill areas.
However, the lack of transparency in the payment of previous bills and new beneficiary selection process has left farmers confused and facing difficulties concerning their livelihood.
Calling it a failure of the Fishery Department, the Development for Hills has urged the Chief Secretary to initiate immediate action to address all pending processes under PMMSY .
