Imphal, October 28 2012:
Tension gripped Phumlou Siphai Mamang Leikai of Imphal West district with the missing of a 16-year-old girl.
Nongthombam Bineshwori d/o Khogen went out from her house with one of her friends on October 13 and never returned till date.
The girl told her family members before she went out that she was going to Millennium Garden at
Haorang Sabal.
As Bineshwori did not return that night, family members thought that she was eloped with somebody.
However, nobody turned up to inform the family of Bineshwori about her elopement the next day which must be generally done in Meitei tradition.
As the suspicion grew stronger, Bineshwori's family filed a missing report at Lamshang Police Station in the afternoon of October 15 .
However, on October 19, Bisnehwori's father received an SMS on his phone from his daughter's mobile phone that read as, "I am in a hilltop, help me" .
Family of the teenager are suspicious that the girl might have been detained by unknown armed persons somewhere in a hilltop.
Meanwhile, locals of Phumlou Siphai Mamang Leikai staged a sit-in-protest urging safe release of the girl.
