Meeting on "Need for documentation in public service" conducted

The Ombudsman (MGNREGA), Imphal West and Manipur Library Association (MALA) jointly organised an interactive meeting on "Need for Documentation in Public Service" at Khagempalli Panthak Nganapithong, Imphal yesterday.
According to a release issued by Ombudsman (MGNREGA), Imphal West, the meeting was graced by Laishram Boby Devi, Honourable Chairperson, Imphal West Zila Parishad; Dr RK Pramodini Devi, Consultative Committee Member (Manipur), Food Corporation of India; Keisham Jadumani Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West and RK Rameshwor Singh, president, MALA as presidium members.
Delivering the keynote address, Yumnam Laksman Singh, Ombudsman, reiterated the need for proper documentation in Office, Institutions and Community Based Organisations.
He said that the good work and services rendered by the officials, staff and members of the organisation could not be highlighted due to lack of proper documentation.
He also mentioned that maintenance of records, registers, files, reports, success stories, audio-visual and press clippings are highly required to prove the quality of work done by the organisations.
"All attempts will be made to open Public Libraries in the Gram Panchayats of Imphal West District", said Laishram Boby Devi.
Dr Th Khomdon Singh, Librarian, Manipur University of Culture, asserted that documentation requires hard work, dedication and timely recording of all events without any further delay.
Eminent writers and former presidents of MALA, Laimayum Sabita Devi and K Chaoba Singh shared their valuable ideas and experiences in preparing good documentary work in all spheres of life.
Dr RK Pramodini Devi and RK Rameshwor Singh thanked Yumnam Laksman Singh for exhibiting his rare published books, articles, reports, photographs and newspaper clippings in a big way.
The meeting ended with the word of thanks � from M Rakesh Singh, treasurer, MALA.
