CCpur, May 26 2024:
In continuation of its efforts to engage villagers towards peace initiatives and foster mutual understanding, the Indian Army organised a security meeting with Village Defence Committee and locals of K Geljang, Chingphei and Pangjang villages of Churachandpur district.
The meeting was attended by village chiefs, important members of the village and 20 villagers of the area, according to a statement.
The meeting served as an effective platform for villagers to express their concerns regarding administrative and security issues.
The committee highlighted the issue of unemployment among the youth, fear of movement due to rise in unwanted incidents in the area and requested security for villagers during paddy cultivation.
In response, the Indian Army assured the villagers of enhanced security measures adopted and briefed them on the current security situation in the area.
The villagers were requested to monitor and report any suspicious activity in the proximity of sensitive areas.
The committee was also asked to report any sightings or presence of miscreants.
The meeting concluded with the Army advising villagers to involve the youth in activities that challenge both their physical and mental capabilities and encouraging them to appear for upcoming recruitment for armed forces.
