RIMS launches Students' Camp & new Guest House amid cleanliness, infrastructure push

Imphal, March 26 2026: The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, kicked off multiple initiatives today to boost cleanliness, hygiene, and infrastructure under its Kayakalp guidelines and development plans.

The three-day Swachhta Students' Camp (March 26-28) was inaugurated at Jubilee Hall by chief guest Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS with Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, as president, and Prof Y Govindaraj Singh; Nodal Officer (SAP/ Kayakalp), as guest of honour.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Sharma stressed hygiene, infection control, and patient safety, urging them to shun plastic bags, limit mobile use, and start cleanliness at home as "future pillars of the nation".

Prof Sharma emphasized the critical role of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control in ensuring quality healthcare and patient safety.

He urged the students from 10 different schools attending the camp to take their role as "future and pillars of the nation" seriously, capable of influencing attitudes and bringing meaningful change.

He also advised students to avoid plastic bags, limit mobile phone use, and adopt cleanliness practices starting from their homes.

The first day of the camp featured yoga, meditation, a "Small Choices, Big Impact" talk on plastic footprints, hand hygiene demos by Nursing Officer Mutum Monica Chanu, and waste disposal insights from Dr Mohd Habibullah Khan.

In a parallel event, Prof Sharma inaugurated RIMS's new Guest House, attended by Prof N Sanjib Singh and Deputy Director (Admn) R K Mecolt Singh.

The facility offers four AC rooms now, expanding to 14-15 rooms for faculty, visitors, and conference guests at nominal rates.

The events drew participation from deans, HoDs, Principals, faculty, staff, and students, underscoring RIMS's commitment to quality healthcare environments and facilities.
