Speaking on the occasion, Prof Lanchenba highlighted that the college week fosters community spirit, enhances unity, and provides a platform for students to showcase their hidden talents.
He also noted the significance of such events in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes skill development, creativity, and practical skills beyond traditional classroom learning.
Dr Jeevan Ngangom, games & sports in-charge for the 2025-26 session at DM College of Science, mentioned that this is the sixth iteration of the annual celebration.
Students have been divided into six houses-Dhanamanjuri, Tikendrajit, Paona, Khunthokhanbi, Thangal, and Linthoingambi-to compete in various indoor and outdoor games.
The primary objective of the college week is to provide a refreshing break from continuous academic study and allow students to channel their energy into different events, thereby bringing out their inherent talents.
A March Past competition was also held as part of the day's inaugural events.
