Kangpokpi, April 25 2026:
The Thingphai Village Authority has categorically rejected allegations made by Tanrui village accusing residents of Thingphai and C Kholen of carrying out unprovoked firing, terming the claims "misleading" and a "distortion of facts".
The authority alleged that the sequence of events has been deliberately misrepresented, and maintained that "it was Tanrui village from where the aggression originated".
In its statement, the VA claimed that despite what it described as a "grave provocation," there was no retaliatory firing from the villagers of Thingphai and C Kholen.
Reaffirming their stance, the VA claimed they have consistently sought to maintain peace and harmony even under distressing circumstances, and strongly condemned "attempts to portray them as aggressors".
Calling for accountability, the authority urged the concerned agencies to conduct an impartial and thorough investigation to establish the truth, warning that misinformation could further inflame tensions between the two neighbouring communities.
It also appealed to all sections to refrain from spreading unverified claims and instead work collectively towards restoring peace.
