'Chandrabadani Taal' showcased

Imphal, August 23 2026: A 15-day workshop organised by Mayailambi Cultural Research Academy, Wangoi Khaidem Leikai under the CMAT scheme concluded today with the showcase of a newly produced 'Chandrabadani Taal' .

The valedictory function held at Leiphrakpam Community Hall was attended by Tourism and Art & Culture Minister Khuraijam Loken Singh; Joint Director, Directorate of Art & Culture, G Dharmadas Sharma; Visiting Guru, JNMDA and State Kala Academy Awardee, Akoijam Ibomcha Singh; and Guru Ibempishak Cultural Academy, Guru Natya Sankirtana Eshei, Leimpokpam Anandi Devi among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Akoijam Ibomcha said performing Sankirtana is one of the righteous ways for a human being to attain a peaceful and contented life, as mentioned in the Bhagavad Gita.

He urged the present generation to preserve the Sankirtana tradition inherited from ancestors for posterity.

He said it is commendable that the Academy has revived many aspects which are essential for performing Sankirtana but have been slowly forgotten.

Secretary of the Academy W Dhanachandra said it is the duty of everyone to preserve the traditions of the past and pass them on to the future generation.

He also expressed happiness that the Government of Manipur through the Directorate of Art & Culture is extending support in translating these objectives into action.

As part of the function, the 'Chandrabadani Taal' produced by Mayailambi Cultural Research Academy was showcased before the public.
