KVK Chandel holds awareness campaign

Chandel, August 22 2026: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Chandel, organised a Parthenium Awareness Campaign at Hnatham village as part of the 21st Parthenium Awareness Week being observed across the country from August 16 to 22 .

According to a release issued by KVK Chandel, the programme was aimed at creating awareness among farmers and rural communities about the harmful effects of the invasive weed Parthenium hysterophorus and the importance of its timely and effective management.

The campaign included an awareness programme, a poster campaign and a practical field activity involving the clearing of parthenium plants from the village area.

Village chief of Hnatham, Nungjoy, along with villagers, participated in the programme.

The KVK Chandel team was led by Dr A Ameeta Devi, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Chandel.

A total of 23 farmers and KVK Chandel staff participated in the awareness programme.
