State level training programme on '21st Livestock Census' kicks off

A 2-Days State Level Training Programme on "21st Livestock Census" kicked off today at Farmers' Training Hall, Veterinary Complex, Sanjenthong.
It was organised by the Department of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Services, Government of Manipur for District Nodal Officer(s)/Supervisor(s)/Enumerator(s) engaged/appointed for the State of Manipur for conducting 21st Livestock Census, said a release issued by Department of Vety and AH Services.
The training programme was inaugurated by Dr RK Khogendrajit Singh, Director, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Services.
Dr L Arunkumar Singh, Joint Director (Admn); Dr L Gojen Singh, Joint Director (Pig) and Selina Thounaojam, Sr Administrative Officer of the Department also attended the inaugural function as presidium members.
The Livestock Census has been conducted across the country every 5 years since 1919 .
The last Livestock Census- 20th Livestock Census was conducted in 2019 .
The work of enumeration will be done in all the villages/urban wards across the country through Mobile App from September to December, 2024 .
The main objective of the Livestock Census is to provide data on Livestock Population of both Domestic Animals and Poultry Birds along with their breed, sex, age and their uses.
Further, the Department has appealed to the public for their cooperation while canvassing the 21st Livestock Census by the officials of the Department.
