Tree plantation drive marks Earth Day celebration at Angaan Ching

Kakching, April 22 2026:
Zero-Waste Kakching, a local youth group, in association with Alliance for Development Alternatives-Manipur (ADAM), celebrated Earth Day, 2026, under the theme "Our Power, Our Planet" by organising a tree plantation drive at Angaan Ching Eco Park, Kakching.
As part of the observance, various tree saplings were planted at multiple locations within the eco park, including Beenet Block, Kshetrimayum Irabot Memorial Complex, and RKCS Memorial Block.
During the programme, Surjit Kshetrimayum, secretary of ADAM, Kakching, and Coordinator of the Management Committee of Angaan Ching Eco Park, addressed the participants.
He elaborated on the significance of Earth Day, highlighting the urgent need to protect and preserve the environment.
He also spoke about the ongoing development and vision of the Angaan Ching Eco Park as a community-driven green space.
Appealing to the younger generation, Surjit urges youths to dedicate at least two hours a week towards environmental conservation and sustainable practices.
A resolution was also adopted during the event to develop a new block of Zero Waste Kakching as part of the "Greening the Rocks of Angaan Ching" campaign initiated by ADAM .
