Imphal, June 21 2026:
The Manipur State Bharat Scouts and Guides celebrated its 39th Foundation Day yesterday at the State Training Centre, Langol Game Village, Zone-I, Imphal.
The programme began with flag hoisting, followed by the Prayer Song and Flag Song, bringing together scouts, guides, and officials to reaffirm the movement's commitment to discipline, leadership, and service.
Addressing the gathering, State Chief Commissioner M Sushil Kumar, IPS (retired), highlighted the movement's role in fostering discipline, leadership, teamwork, and service among youth for nearly four decades.
He stressed the urgent need to strengthen infrastructure, noting that the current training centre operates from a tubular structure on less than one acre near Langol Hill, lacking proper guest house and training facilities.
He recalled the M Sudhir Singh Scouts and Guides Guest House at Kakching Mamang-ching, inaugurated in 1997, as a symbol of past commitment to youth development.
Vice President Father Francis, who travelled from Mao, said scouting builds service, responsibility, and faith.
Around 70 scouts from Kendriya Vidyalaya Langjing, UNACCO School Khongman, Uripok Thamboumacha High School, and Alpha & Omega School took part.
The organisation appealed to the Governor, its Chief Patron, to promote scouting in schools for holistic youth development.
The programme ended with scarf presentations and cultural items.
