Imphal, February 21:
A two year old boy identified as Mainam Biranta Singh alias Birbal who reportedly fell into a pond near Thoubal Wangmataba College Leirak on February 19 noon was safely rescued by the locals.
The incident occurred when the children of Wangmataba were playing near the pond.
Upon seeing Birbal, the fourth son of Mainam Brojen Singh, who fell into the pond and was almost drowned a three year old girl Mainam Dinita, gave an alarming call.
Even as she was found trying to pull out the boy the locals shortly joined her in rescuing the boy, said a release of Wangmataba Youth Club Thoubal secretary, M Ibungo Singh while expressing appreciation to Dinita for her courageous act.
