Search operations intensify ahead of R-Day

Imphal, January 21 2020: District police of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching and Bishnupur intensified preventive and security measures for the coming Republic Day celebration by carrying out house to house and cordoned search operations at their respective districts today.

A team of Imphal West district commando and women police personnel conducted a cordon and search operation at Tera Amudon Leirak and Bijoy Govinda Thangapat Mapal today morning.

During the operation, around 300 individuals, including 100 women, were verified.

10 individuals who failed to proper identity proofs were detained and handed over to Imphal PS.

They were later released after proper verification.

The same team conducted search operation at North AOC and Kekrupat stretch in the afternoon during which 200 individuals were verified.

13 individuals were detained and handed over to Imphal PS.

Further search operation was conducted MG Avenue and it surrounding area, Nagamapal Phougeisangbam Leikai and Old Lambulane Road.

During the search operations, 9 persons were detained and handed over to City PS .

Similarly, Imphal East district police team also conducted cordon and search operation at Konung Mamang areas covering Andro Parking, RDS crossing, Remedy Hospital and Bazaar India area.

They verified more than 200 individuals during the search operation and detained 17 individuals.

A team of Kakching district commando also conducted similar cordon and search operations at Kakching Wairi Ningthou Pareng and Kamala Pareng, verifying more than 300 individuals.

No one was detained during the search operation.

Bishnupur district police also carried out cordon and search operations at Bishnupur ward number 1, 2 and 3 during which more than 400 individuals were verified.

During the search operation, a woman from Bishnupur ward number 2 Muslim Khun, identified as Ibecha Bebi (31) w/o Md Nashir Khan was arrested from her residence with 162 W/Y tablets, 48 SP capsules and 4 N10 tablets.

She was handed over to Bishnupur PS for taking up necessary legal actions under ND&PS Act.

On the other hand, Thoubal district commando along with women police personnel, conducted cordoned search and house to house search operation at Charangpat Mayai Leikai.

More than 100 houses were thoroughly searched and around 300 individuals were verified by the police team.

3 individuals were detained and handed over to Thoubal PS for proper verification.
