National Pharmaco vigilance Week observed

Shija Hospitals & Research Institute (SHRI), in collaboration with Shija Academy of Health Sciences (SAHS), observed the 5th National Pharmaco vigilance Week to promote safe medication practices and patient safety.
As per a release issued by SHRI, the event, held under the theme "Your Safety, Just a Click Away: Report to PvPI", highlighted the importance of the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) and the need for reporting adverse drug reactions.
The programme began with a keynote address by Dr Neerajkumar Shanna, convener cum coordinator, AMC, PvPI, and Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology, SAHS.
Prof M Amuba Singh, Director, SAHS, spoke about the role of phannacovigilance in monitoring drug use and ensuring patient safety.
Dr Sorokhaibam Jugindra Singh, Director of Health Services at Shija Hospitals, stressed the need for responsible drug use.
Dr Rahul Singh Oinam, Consultant Neurologist, Shija Hospitals, emphasized that healthcare professionals must choose medications carefully, educate patients, and report any adverse reactions to foster a culture of safety.
The event featured a quiz competition, and a skit performed by UG-MBBS students from SAHS titled "Playing Doctor, Paying the Price", illustrating the risks of self-medication and the value of professional guidance.
The Shija Academy of Nursing team won the 1st prize in the quiz, while the Junior Residents and Nursing Officers teams shared the 2nd prize, and the Pharmacy team secured the 3rd place.
Awards were also presented for the skit and essay writing competition, recognizing participants' creativity, knowledge and active engagement.
Notably, the ADR (Adverse Drug Reaction) Centre at SAHS is one of the four recognised ADR centres in the State.
