Anti-drug awareness drive intensifies in Kakching, Jiribam under Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah

Various awareness programmes and campaigns are being conducted across Kakching and Jiribam districts as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah under the theme "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan - Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchaan", with an aim to prevent substance abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free society.
The week-long campaign is being observed by different government departments in the run-up to the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which falls on June 26.In Kakching district, the Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) organised an awareness campaign on substance abuse and the importance of a drug-free society at Kakching Bazaar.
The campaign was attended by KMC staff members who interacted with the public and spread awareness on the harmful effects of drug abuse.
The District Youth Affairs and Sports Department also conducted a drug-free awareness drive in the district, appealing to citizens, especially youths, to adopt a healthy lifestyle and stay away from substance abuse.
Meanwhile, in Jiribam district, the District Administration in association with the District Social Welfare Office, Jiribam, organised a bike rally as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah.
The rally, held on the theme "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan - Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchaan", was participated by Jiribam Superintendent of Police Prakhar Pandey, CRPF personnel, NSS Jiri Unit members and students of Jiribam College.
The rally was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Jiribam Arvind Hanglem and SP Prakhar Pandey.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Arvind Hanglem stated that the bike rally was organised to spread awareness among the people and encourage youths to contribute towards making Jiribam a drug-free zone.
