Imphal, May 20 2026:
Congress MLA Thokchom Lokeshwar has asserted that BJP Governments at the Centre and the State have been working to trifurcate Manipur.
Speaking at a World Bee Day 2026 observation held at Heikak Mapal Awang Leikai, Imphal East today, the Congress MLA said that the Manipur violence which started between Kukis and Meiteis has now spread to Nagas.
Saying that the BJP Government has been working to trifurcate Manipur, Lokeshwar stressed the need for all communities to come together and work collectively in order to prevent disintegration of Manipur.
It's time for all CSOs to unite and work together in the collective interest of Manipur, he said.
The conflicts between Kuki and Meitei, Kuki and Naga would have ended had the Government of India intervened sincerely in time.
Instead of working sincerely to resolve the crisis, the Government of India has been acting in a highly biased manner, Lokeshwar said before questioning if New Delhi has any secret agenda.
Had the Government of India wished, the crisis would have ended a long time back, he said.
The Congress MLA also blamed the Government of India for the prolonged restriction on free movement on National Highways.
Pointing out that the Central Government is responsible for ensuring free movement and security on National Highways, he questioned why so many loaded trucks are left stranded on the National Highway for so many days.
He went on to ask why the Government of India is not taking any concrete action against those elements blocking free flow of goods and services on National Highways.
He further accused the Government of India of turning a blind eye to the large-scale poppy cultivation in the hill areas of Manipur.
