RIMS hosts XVI MESOCON 2026, emphasizes research & critical care

The Medical Society of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, successfully hosted the XVI MESOCON 2026 today at the Jubilee Hall, marking a significant milestone in its pursuit of academic excellence.
The conference was formally inaugurated by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal, in the presence of Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal; Prof L Rajesh Singh, Dean (Academics), RIMS, Imphal; and Prof S Subhaschandra Singh, Chairman of the Medical Society, RIMS, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sunil Kumar commended RIMS and the Medical Society for their academic initiatives and stressed the importance of enhancing research through high-impact publications.
He highlighted critical care's role in balancing expertise, ethics, and patient care, encouraged collaboration, and mentioned the upcoming 150-bedded ICU block and organ transplantation efforts.
MESOCON 2026 featured a comprehensive scientific programme, including Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions covering a wide range of contemporary medical topics.
Eminent faculty members and distinguished speakers delivered insightful presentations, fostering academic exchange and professional growth.
The occasion also included the formal release of the conference souvenir and the JMS Journal.
The RIMS Director felicitated outstanding scholars by distributing prizes and certificates for Postgraduate (PG) awards, recognizing their dedication and academic excellence.
