Torch rally in Langathel condemns killing of children and civilians

Thoubal, April 19 2026: A torch rally was held Saturday evening at Langathel in Thoubal district, expressing strong condemnation over the April 7 bomb attack at Tronglaobi that claimed the lives of two children, as well as the killing of three civilians in alleged firing by personnel of the CRPF during a protest.

The rally was organised by the Langathel Apunba Meira Paibi along with local clubs, drawing large participation from Meira Paibi members and local youths.

Protesters assembled at Langathel Keithel and marched towards Khongjom Keithel before proceeding along the National Highway to Sangaikhong.

The rally later returned to its starting point.

Speaking in connection with the rally, a Meira Paibi leader strongly condemned both incidents, terming them as acts of grave injustice.

She demanded that those responsible for the bomb attack and the personnel involved in the firing be identified and awarded the strictest punishment.

She also called for halting the Census process in Manipur uptil the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

During the march, demonstrators raised slogans condemning the killing of children and civilians, demanding justice, and calling for protection of Manipur's territorial integrity.

Protesters also voiced opposition to central forces.
