Maram, December 17 2015:
After SDSA expressed its resentment over the dilapidated condition of NH-2, the Maram Students' Union (MKS) has also reminded the State Government and the department concerned to urgently address the matter.
According to MKS President Luikang, the stretch between Maram Khongnem and Maram Bazar continues to worsen everyday with many stretches becoming unbearable for the public to travel, He also noted that it has become an annual affair of the civil bodies/pressure groups to remind the Government and department to repair the main lifeline which is seriously neglected but depended upon by the State.
With dry season on, the repairing works must be implemented without any further delay, it demanded.
Certain sections of NH-2 between Khongnem and Maram Bazar were black topped recently but the condition has created serious inconveniences at many parts of the stretch.
It may be noted that, the MKS has been extending its outmost support and co-operation to any work agency working for the improvement of the said highway in Maram areas, said Luikang.
The MKS President assured that any developmental works will be endorsed and supported and added that it has asked the department concerned or work agency to start repairing work at the earliest.
It may be recalled that the SDSA executive council had taken a first hand inspection of the deplorable condition of the NH-2 on Tuesday and demanded the State Government to initiate immediate repairing works.
The apex student body has been strongly advocating the improvement of the highway where many selected portions remained unattended even after the State PWD took over the road from BRTF in 2010 .
Many civil bodies favoured the BRTF due to its quality works and regular reparing works unlike the State departments and private work agencies.
