Protestors demand unconditional release of arrested YOM members

Thoubal, October 16 2024: Kangmong Apunba Maira Paibi organised a sit-in protest demanding unconditional release of four Youth of Manipur members arrested by Manipur police by tomorrow, failing which, preparations are underway to launch intense agitations.

The protest demonstration was particpated by womenfolk of nine different Leikais at Kangmong Manglak Community Hall today.

Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Kangmong Apunba Maira Paibi advisor Maisnam Shakhi denounced the repeated arrest of the four YOM members who were merely participating in a democratic protest in support of transgender activist Malem Thongam.

Demanding unconditional release of the four youths by tomorrow, Maisnam Shakhi demanded to know why the YOM members were arrested for lending support to a person asking for restoration of peace and preserving the territorial integrity of Manipur.

If the concerned authority fail to release the four youths by tomorrow, she cautioned that preparations are complete to initiate intense protest demonstrations in cooperation with the public.

The protestors wielded many placards with messages such as "We condemn the arrest of students", "We demand unconditional release of the students" etc.
