Model physique show "inappropriate", says NSCN/GPRN

Ukhrul, August 16 2025: The NSCN/GPRN has termed the 'Model Physique and Body Show' segment at the 79th Naga Independence Day celebration held at Phungyar on August 14 as "inappropriate" and not aligned with expected values and decorum.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the NSCN/GPRN said that the segment was neither reviewed nor approved by the higher authority in charge.

The segment in question was arranged independently by the programme organizers/performers without prior knowledge of the undersigned or the event's presiding authority, it said.

Meanwhile, in their clarification, the office of the Body Builder's Association of Ukhrul District (BBAUD) has asserted that the performance was "consented by the concern CAO, WTR" .

According to their statement, the showcase was held to give awareness on fitness, healthy lifestyle, eradication of substance abuse and transforming life through body building.

BBAUD expressed regret that the women's Model Physique Showcase which was supposed to be performed below the stage was conducted in the stage platform out of ignorance.
