Imphal, September 15:
While pointing out that the source of water for the water supply scheme for the seven villages from Joujangtek to Charoiphoibut be shifted from Laimaton to Loibul Wapi village, Nungba Citizens' Council has urged for increasing the sanctioned amount for implementing the scheme.
In a statement, Council chairman M Hoinailung said although covering of Lamdangmei village under the water supply scheme for the year 2006-07 with an estimated sanctioned amount of Rs 10 lakhs is one of the happiest tidings for the villagers, the selection of Laimaton river of Nungaithabi, Old Cachar Road is unfortunate.
So far the laying of the water pipe line for two villages namely Joujangtek and Dolang have been executed, but the remaining villages like Lamdangmei, Thangal, Laphok village, etc have been left out as the location of the said villages happened to be situated at a level unreachable to the source of the water.
So the best means would be to change the source of water of the scheme from Laimaton to Loibul Wapi and increase the sanctioned amount as per estimated cost, the chairman suggested.
