Imphal, April 15 2026:
The Peoples' Action for National Democratic Movement (PANDM) has strongly condemned recent acts of violence and unethical price gouging amid ongoing unrest in Manipur.
In a press release issued today, PANDM reaffirmed its commitment to a united Manipur where all indigenous communities coexist harmoniously.
The organisation highlighted the conflict, allegedly sparked by Chin Kuki narco-terrorists since May 3, 2023, aimed at destabilizing the State.
PANDM expressed profound sorrow and shock over the recent Tronglaobi incident, where two children sleeping with their mother were killed by a bomb, and the subsequent killing of civilians allegedly by the CRPF during public unrest.
PANDM questioned the role of a Government that fails to protect citizens' lives and property.
It also addressed the hardships faced by the public due to the crisis, warning business owners against exploiting the situation through unjustified price hikes on essentials and hoarding goods in godowns to create artificial scarcity.
PANDM announced drives to monitor such practices, vowing that shopkeepers indulging in illegal profiteering will face legal action.
It urged Government departments to fulfill their duties effectively rather than remaining in name only.
Additionally, the group voiced support for the Government's ban on tobacco products and pledged to actively enforce the prohibition.
