49th Annual Athletic Meet of Sainik School Imphal kicks off

Imphal, December 14 2025: The 49th Annual Athletic Meet of Sainik School Imphal was officially inaugurated today with a vibrant and spectacular opening ceremony at the school's lush green playground.

The event, a much-anticipated fixture in the school's calendar, brought together cadets, staff, and parents to celebrate sportsmanship and physical prowess.

As per a release issued by Sainik School of Imphal, the prestigious occasion was graced by Dr Shyam Sundar Rath, Vice Chancellor of National Sports University, Imphal, as the chief guest.

In his address, Dr Shyam Sundar lauded the school's efforts in nurturing holistic development among its cadets.

He strongly emphasised the crucial role of sports in building character, discipline, and leadership qualities.

He also encouraged the young athletes to pursue excellence.

In keeping with school tradition, the ceremonial lamp was lit using a flame from a torch carried on foot by cadets of Class XII from Tulihal Airport, the historic site where the school was commissioned on October 7, 1971 .

The highlight of the inaugural function was a series of captivating physical displays.

The cadets showcased a flawless mass PT display, followed by high-energy aerobics and impressive Zumba performances, all serving as a testament to the school's rigorous physical training regimen and the cadets' dedication to fitness.

Principal Lt Col Satish Kumar Singh expressed his heartfelt thanks to Dr Shyam Sundar for his valuable time and inspiring presence and further added that this athletic meet will feature various track and field events over the next few days.

He also appreciated the cadets for their enthusiastic and spirited participation and extended gratitude to all the staff, guests, parents, and media persons for making the occasiop a grand success.
