Security tightened ahead of Independence Day celebration

Imphal, August 14 2017: Security measures have been tightened in every district HQs of the State ahead of the Independence Day celebration .

As a part of the effort by Manipur police to ensure smooth celebration, a team of Thoubal police carried out cordon and search operation at Athokpam Awang Leikai today .

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Thoubal SP, K Meghachandra, under the joint command of SDPO Thoubal, Shankar Deba and Deputy SP (Commando), Soibam Sachidananda along with a team of women police personnel.

Around 60 males and 70 females were verified as a part of the operation and one individual who failed to produce proper identification proof was handed over to Thoubal police station for proper verification .

A team of Kakching police also carried out cordon and search operation at Kakching Khunou bazar area under the supervision of Kakching SP, W Singhajeet.

More than 50 people were verified .

Churachandpur district police also carried out cordon and search operation at Khumujamba Leikai under Churachandpur police station today morning.

Around 300 individuals were verified in the operation which was conducted under the supervision of Churachandpur SP, B Rakesh, by a team of Churachandpur district police including women police personnel.

Four individuals were detained and handed over to Churachandpur police station for proper verification .

On the other hand, Imphal West district police, under the supervision of Imphal West SP, Themthing Ngasangva and led by Deputy SP (Ops) Imphal West, Thangkhochon Haokip, carried out house to house search operation at Ngakrabam Leikai, Hao ground and Singjamei Chingamakha area, today morning .

Around 140 individuals were verified by the police and no one was detained or picked up for further verification.
