Road mishap at Mayang Imphal

Imphal, October 13 2008: In a road related mishap, one person who was knocked down by an NV scooter has been hospitalised while the driver of the scooter had been suspectedly beaten up to death.

According to police, the accident occurred at around 10 pm yesterday near Mayang Imphal Bengoon Maning Leikai along Mayai Lambi.

Wahengbam Roben of Wangoi Wahengbam Leikai who came driving the NV scooter died while Md Ayub Khan (26) s/o Md Abdul Jabber of Mayang Imphal Bengoon Maning Leikai who was knocked down by the scooter has been hospitalised with fracture of his left leg.

Family members of Roben, however, suspected that he may have been beaten up to death after the incident.

They said that there were injuries marks all over his body including head, lower back and right shoulder.

Though the post-mortem of the body had been conducted, the family members have refused to take back the body until the report of the post-mortem has been received.
