AMGSU, PGYC celebrate 212th Bhanu Jayanti

Imphal, July 13 2026:
The All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union (AMGSU), Pangei Unit, in collaboration with the Pangei Gorkha Youth Club (PGYC), celebrated the 212th Bhanu Jayanti at the Shree Shree Durga Mandir Community Hall, Pangei.
The programme was atended by secretary of Pangei Gorkha Women Society, Praveen Thapa, while PGYC and AMGSU Pangei Unit advisor Anand Rai presided over the function.
Rajat Gurung attended as guest of honour.
Govind Khatiwoda, Padam Prasad Ghimere and social worker Bidur Ghimere attended as special guests.
The celebration paid tribute to Adikavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, the pioneer of Nepali literature, whose translation of the Ramayana into Nepali made the epic accessible to the common people.
As part of the programme, students who excelled in the Class X and XII examinations conducted by BOSEM and COHSEM were felicitated for their academic achievements.
A poem recitation competition and a painting competition were also organised, drawing enthusiastic participation from students and promoting appreciation of the Nepali language, literature and culture among the younger generation.
Floral tributes, speeches on the life and literary contributions of Bhanu Bhakta Acharya and cultural performances marked the celebration.
