Students, civil service achievers felicitated at Khongjom and Wabagai

Meritorious students and successful civil service aspirants from dififerent parts of Thoubal district were honoured at separate felicitation programmes held at Khongjom Bazar and Wabagai today.
The Southern Youth Incentive Association (SYIA), Khongjom Bazar, organised its 22nd felicitation ceremony and presented the 2nd Ch Tomba and Amubi Memorial Award to recognise students from the Khongjom Circle area who secured outstanding results in the Class X and XII examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) and the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM).
The function, held at the Khongjom Bazar Community Hall, was attended by several distinguished personalities, including former Director of Health Services, Manipur, Dr Ch Chandramani; former Director of Family Welfare, Dr Ch Bilashini Devi; former Librarian H Jugindro Singh; former Auditor of AG Manipur Ch Ito Singh; former Storekeeper of the Election Commission Ch Birachandra Singh; former Junior Engineer at the Government of Meghalaya, M Tombi Singh; former Deputy Director of DIPR S Deven Singh: former Executive Officer of the Department of Trade, Commerce and Industries K Dhananjoy Singh; former Head Draftsman of the Directorate of Settlement S Luke Singh; former Lecturer of Government Polytechnic College S Tampha Singh; Professor of Anthropology, Manipur University, Dr S Jibankumar Singh; and SYIA president and former Headmaster L Shayamo Singh as presidium members.
A total of 20 students were felicitated during the programme.
Among them were Newton Sapam, who secured the 8th position in the COHSEM Higher Secondary Examination (Science stream), Puyam Bijesh, who secured the 18th position, and Sapam Roma Devi, who secured the 20th position.
The association also honoured Deepa Maibam, who secured the 8th rank in the Manipur Civil Services Combined Competitive Examination (MCSCCE), 2022, along with Khundrakpam Kunjeshwor of Samaram and Heigrujam Premkumar Singh of Tekcha, who secured the 71st and 94th ranks respectively.
The achievers were presented with lengyans, citations, cash awards and other gifts in recognition of their accomplishments and as encouragement for future endeavours.
Meanwhile, the 31st Meritorious Award Distribution Ceremony for students from Wabagai and Hiyanglam Assembly Constituencies was held at the Recreation Hall of Wabagai Higher Secondary School.
The event was organised by the Eikhoigi Yaipha Lamjing Lup (EYLL), Chingamathak, Imphal, in collaboration with Wabagai Higher Secondary School.
The organisation, comprising individuals originally from Hiyanglam and Wabagai constituencies who are now settled in Imphal and engaged in various professions, has been conducting the annual felicitation programme since 1995.DM University Vice-Chancellor Wahengbam Chandbabu attended the function as chief guest.
Other dignitaries present included EYLL vice-president Elangbam Tomba; Joint Secretary of Higher and Technical Education, Tourism and Sericulture Sonia Elangbam former Zilla Parishad members Yumnam Samarendra and M Jayantakumar; former Hiyanglam Gram Panchayat Pradhan Elangbam Rajen; Principal of Smart Universal Academy, Sekmaijin Khunou, Konthoujam Dhananjoy; and Principal-in-Charge of Wabagai Higher Secondary School Laishram Shantakumar.
During the programme, eight different awards instituted by EYLL and various donors were presented to meritorious students who excelled in the BOSEM and COHSEM examinations.
The organisation also conferred the Beacon of EYLL Excellence Award on Wahengbam Renudhar, who secured the 652nd rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
As part of the event, mothers of several achievers were also honoured with the Loidang Devi Memorial Best Mother Award in recognition of their role in nurturing and supporting academic excellence.
