Cycling for Manipur Peace: Transgender activist Malem Thongam reaches Sitapur

Imphal, October 12 2025:
Having covered a distance of nearly 500 Km in 11 days, and enduring various challenges along the way, transgender activist Malem Thongam reached Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.
On October 2, Malem Thongam embarked on a bicycle journey from Qutub Minar, Minar to Imphal under the banner of "To Restore Peace and Harmony in Manipur" .
Along the route, he interacted with people of diverse communities, sharing the message of unity and harmony.
Today, the transgender activist was accorded a warm welcome by a police team in Sitapur.
Malem Thongam was also warmly received by a medical team from Sitapur District Hospital.
After checking his health conditions, the medical team provided necessary medicines for his journey as a mark of encouragement and support.
At the event, Malem Thongam said that the journey is intended to draw the attention of the people across different States of India and to seek their support for restoring lasting peace in Manipur.
He also extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the people who provided their support & assistance in the journey.
Malem Thongam further expressed hope that this effort, though small, will inspire many to join in the cause of peace and harmony in Manipur.
