PAWF Tripura marks 13th foundation day with cultural and literary events

Imphal, April 12 2026:
The Patriotic Writers' Forum (PAWF), Tripura celebrated its 13th foundation day on Saturday at Dasharat Deb Memorial Auditorium, Agartala, with a series of cultural and literary programmes.
The event began on a solemn note with prayers offered for the departed souls of the victims of the Tronglaobi bomb attack, which claimed the lives of a toddler and a five-year-old boy.
The ceremonial lamp was lit by Naoroibam Khamba Luwang, president of PAWF Manipur, marking the formal inauguration of the programme.
The function was attended by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Tripura, president Langoljam Birmangal as chief guest, while PAWF Tripura, president Kshetrimayum Madhabi presided over the event.
Other dignitaries present included PAWF, Manipur, secretary Rakesh Naorem; Sports Authority of India, retired Asst Director Konsam Michael as guests of honour, and noted folk singer Benita Laishram as special guest.
During the programme, 19 newly elected office bearers of PAWF, Tripura for the 2026-29 term were felicitated with Manipuri lyong Phi and mementoes.
Additionally, 10 delegates from Assam and Manipur, along with 11 representatives from various organisations in Tripura, who are attending the programme, were also honoured.
As part of the celebration, Yengkhom Bhagyachandra, a life member of PAWF Manipur, presented a Pena (musical instrument) to PAWF Tripura president Kshetrimayum Madhabi and secretary Ningombam Pranay.
The instrument will be kept at the Manipuri Comer, opened at Tripura State Museum.
The event also featured a National Poets' Meet with participation from noted writers including Kshetrimayum Amadila, Nabakumar Oinam, along with 10 other writers from Tripura.
The session was moderated by Khoisnam Ongbi Birola Devi, a member of the Manipuri Language Advisory Board of the Sahitya Akademi.
A cultural exchange programme was also held, featuring Manipuri folk singer Benita Laishram alongside renowned and upcoming artists from Tripura, adding vibrancy to the celebration.
