EPU launches initiative to clean Waishel Maril

Imphal, April 11 2025: The Environment Protection Union (EPU), Manipur has launched an initiative aimed at desilting one of the vital waterways of the State, the Waishel Maril.

According to a press release issued by EPU, Manipur, the initiative was launched today after conducting numerous awareness programmes across various localities a few months ago, surveying the Waishel Maril three times and informing the relevant departments.

Stating that the initiative was undertaken after informing the MLAs of the respective constituencies, EPU has sought the support and cooperation of local clubs and organisations in successfully carrying out the cleaning of Waishel Maril.

EPU is reportedly a conglomerate organisation consisting of many CSOs, private organisations, clubs and environmentalists with the objective of conserving the environment.
